A mobile application is a piece of software that is installed on a device such as tablet, PocketPC, or Smartphone and can run either standalone or as part of a network. Popular examples of this include applications for field technicians, couriers, and a mobile sales force.
Users interact with mobile applications through electronic forms which capture transactional information (e.g. jobs, orders, sales) or entity information (e.g. customers, suppliers).
Captured information may be transmitted immediately to a central database such as SQL Server, or cached on the device in a SQL Mobile database, for later transmission.
